In today’s data-intensive environment, strategic organizations are realizing that information is a differentiator. When properly managed at all stages of its lifecycle, data can reveal the true value of tangible and intangible assets, help companies optimize decision-making, and uncover new opportunities to operate more competitively. Among the outcomes of data monetization projects are using data and analytics throughout operations to reduce costs, waste, and fraud; delivering a data-driven customer experience to drive revenue and loyalty; and selling data as a service or information product. For these initiatives to be successful, however, organizations must first integrate disparate information silos, address the resulting data quality issues, and establish a framework for conducting analytics on this information.
With its unique ability to address both underlying data integration and integrity concerns and front-end analytical and information delivery needs, Information Builders offers companies unparalleled opportunities for data monetization success. Many of these projects rely on providing access to self-service analytics to different personas with a wide array of technical skills – a requirement easily supported by Information Builders’ WebFOCUS BI and analytics platform, InfoApps™, and other self-service solutions. Among the customers working with Information Builders to monetize their data are:
- Quinte Health Care (QHC) – QHC provides a wide range of healthcare services to 160,000 people living in Prince Edward, Hastings, and Northumberland Counties in Ontario, Canada via four hospitals. Changes in government funding required the organization to cut $10 million from its operating budget, and it turned to Information Builders to implement a BI and analytics program that would enable decision-makers to spot where money could be saved. The data monetization project gave more than 300 people, ranging from nurses to executives, access to WebFOCUS reports and allowed QHC to reduce its operating expenses in line with the reduction in funding
- Cargo iQ – Cargo iQ is an IATA interest group with the mission of creating and implementing quality standards for the global air cargo industry. Its members are major airlines, freight forwarders, ground-handling agents, trucking companies, and IT solution providers worldwide, all of which work with the Group to ensure best practices in the transportation of air cargo. To enable their members to easily access and analyze performance data from the whole membership, Cargo iQ worked with Information Builders to develop its Member Portal. With this improved access to information, members can reallocate resources to enhance their process and, consequently, their quality. The portal, part of its Smart Data program, drives innovation along the entire airfreight supply chain while supporting quality and process improvement on an individual and industry-wide basis.
Gerald Cohen, president and CEO, Information Builders, said:
“Just like physical assets, information can deteriorate over time if it’s not properly managed and cared for. Companies only have a small window of time in which to monetize their data, and it’s critical that data quality not suffer as they rush to capitalize on this opportunity. That’s why the right BI and analytics partner is crucial to the success of these initiatives. Nothing makes us happier than guiding our customers to great returns on their data investments, and Information Builders looks forward to helping more companies maximize their information.”
