Apollo Vredestein, a Dutch producer of tires, uses a combination of homegrown and packaged applications to meet its business needs. For example, essential financial functions are managed on Unix, Windows, and IBM AS/400 systems. R&D is carried out using software from Siemens. The primary sales automation system is homegrown, as are the production and logistics systems. The interfaces within these various systems are also self-designed. Most data is stored in relational database management systems from Oracle and Microsoft. A BI portal, built on Information Builders technologies, collects and centralizes this information, making it available for analysis to hundreds of users, from non-technical frontline workers to advanced analysts and developers. This single, consolidated view of critical information minimizes costs and helps the company take advantage of new revenue opportunities.
Multinational holding company Heartland Financial was plagued by a jumble of information systems due to the acquisition of several small regional banks. This assortment of disparate data sources – which includes applications that manage loans and transactions, standalone HR and CRM applications, and other systems – made it difficult to analyze and report on data for compliance, auditing, and decision-making purposes. Thanks to our platform, Heartland was able to harness this information without a long and costly data warehouse project, and make it readily available to stakeholders across the business. Workers Compensation Fund (WCF) realized the importance of an enterprise analytics strategy, but struggled to provide users across the company with simple and intuitive access to its diverse information sources, including Adabas, Software AG, and other systems. When other tools failed to provide the needed integrations, the company turned to Information Builders. Self-service and customer-facing analytics that leverage hard-to-reach sources helps WCF to enhance claims management, safety, underwriting and risk management, finance and budgeting, customer service, and other core functions.
