WebFOCUS Quick Data is an add-in for Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office that includes an easy-to-use query and reporting tool. After data has been accessed, prepared, and aggregated it is automatically loaded into Excel.

Scheduled Real-Time Loads
Data loaded from external sources can be scheduled as a real-time data refresh to ensure accuracy. Scheduled load automation might include format revisions such as inserting and deleting rows or columns.
Common Metadata and Governance Functionality
Metadata allows for the central storage of calculations and filters. Virtual data preparation at the application layer – so that users can easily join, split, mask, reformat, group, and redefine data from original sources – allows users to drag-and-drop dimensions, views, and subsets into the columns and rows they choose.
Excel users can leverage WebFOCUS formatting to create new rows, perform additional calculations, and define layouts. Users can also choose Excel functionality, taking advantage of named ranges, formulas, theming, conditional styling, and Excel-based data refresh strategies. Computations can be output as native Excel formulas. Additionally, all hierarchies are available in Excel, eliminating the need to recreate them.
Managed View of Data
Users can obtain an enterprise view of data from inside Excel for all external sources. This might include data retrieval from multiple data sets on one spreadsheet. Dimensions can be organized in the Excel spreadsheet to uncover trends and identify business opportunities.
Distribution, Reuse, and Sharing
All queries, reports, and analyses can be delivered to dashboards and portals as self-contained, shareable, portable, reusable analytic artifacts – also known as InfoApps. This expands analytic content from individual use to departmental and enterprise-wide use. Results can also be used inside other Excel spreadsheets and worksheets.
Users can access information securely from anywhere using preexisting, single sign-on capabilities. Quick Data leverages the same security framework as WebFOCUS, supporting metadata-based deployment, multi-tenancy templates, and a fine-grained security model with authorized users based on RDMS data or web service. This meets the security requirements of federal, public, and customer-facing web-based applications, and provides security and protection on many levels, including system, application, database, and field-value.
