Fixed Report Portlet for Open Portal Services
By Nicholas Zavalkov
In Open Portal Services, administrators of the portal can set up reports to be automatically run when a user connects to his or her portal page. Administrators must make sure that users have privileges to execute that report.
In this article, I will describe the steps for setting up fixed report portlets with Open Portal Services. A fixed report portlet differs from a report portlet, in that the user cannot change the report that is being launched from the fixed portlet.
The fixed report portlet is not a part of the default Open Portal Services package. It is set up from the Fixed Reports Manager Portlet and displayed in the modified report viewer portlet.
So let's go over the steps to set up a fixed report portlet. They are as follows:
| 1. |
Open the Fixed Reports Manager Portlet (Screen 1).

 |
| 2. |
Choose a domain from which you want to set up a "fixed" report. |
| 3. |
Open the Standard Reports folder. |
| 4. |
Click on the report that you would like to turn into a fixed report. |
The name that will appear under fixed reports will look like so:
csales04_csales04_htm__stdr__
canlyticrpts__app_allmetri_fex
Note: The name is a full path to the domain and folder where the report resides.
| 5. |
Click "Save." This will cause highlighting on the report to disappear. |
| 6. |
Highlight the report again and click "Copy." |
Note: The "Copy" command is equivalent to a CTRL-C command, so please make sure you do not attempt to copy anything else before pasting this string value.
| 7. |
Modify the Report Viewer portlet to include a parameter called &fr= and paste the string value that you copied from Fixed Report Manager Portlet (fr stands for "fixed report"). |
For more information on how to modify Report Viewer Portlet please see WebFOCUS Open Portal Services Administrative guide.
| 8. |
You should now be able to see this report inside the Report Viewer Portlet that you modified. Screen 2 shows the outcome. |
