Customizing Dashboard Views
By Emma Schwarz
WebFOCUS Business Intelligence Dashboard gives you the ability to create multiple views targeting different types of users.
You may group users by departments, customers or roles, depending on your application needs. For example, you may want to create individual Dashboard views for each of the departments using WebFOCUS. The views may be secured or open, so that general information is made available to everyone while sensitive
information is available only after login.
Dashboard comes with a choice of six banner styles, which you select from the look page of the View Builder when building a view. Each look is a template that you fill in with the logo, wallpaper and colors that make the view unique for your user community. Each group view or public view created for the Dashboard
can have a different look so that each view is specialized for the target audience.
After selecting a look, a company or department logo and wallpaper can be inserted in the banner. The View Builder also allows color selections for links, content background, control bars, tabs and all other areas of the Dashboard View. Users may select colors by entering the RGB number value for the color or by
resorting to the available color palette.
If you have never used Dashboard before, I’m sure you’re wondering by now how to get started. Dashboard is available if Managed Reporting is installed on your system. You can access it through the following URL:
http://machinename/ibi_apps/bid.
You’ll need to substitute "machinename" with your host and port number. This URL will display the Dashboard index page, where you have a choice of either entering a Dashboard view or firing up the View Builder.
