Getting More Bang for the Buck
iWay Software’s customers and partners work with us because they want to solve specific business problems with the most cost-effective tools on the market.
Alcan, a multi-billion-dollar aluminum manufacturing company, came to us for help in meeting their four key goals: meeting customer expectations, creating a low-cost development strategy, eliminating waste, and positioning Alcan for the future.
These high-level business problems led to the development of specific integration requirements, which included Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) capabilities, rapid deployment, and compatibility with other applications and middleware. The result? Projects that cost a fraction of initial estimates
and deliver millions of dollars in annual savings.
In this issue Bo Foster, Alcan’s director of applications and e-commerce, details the challenges Alcan faced and solutions they’ve implemented.
Our cost-effectiveness comes, in part, from our outstanding support for industry standards. As the saying goes, “The great thing about standards is that everyone’s got one.” iWay Software helps bridge the gap among competing standards, and in this issue Product Manager Moshe Silverstein and iWay
Chief Scientist Ralph Stout discuss the standards organizations with which we are affiliated.
Standards support played a key role in Sonic Software’s decision to work with iWay Software. Sonic’s innovative Enterprise Service Bus, or ESB, uses Java™ standards and Web services to work with other enterprise IT assets. Their business problem turned on connecting Sonic ESB to non-standard systems.
They discussed the option of building their own solution – ramping up with personnel who thoroughly understand both Java and many disparate applications. Instead, they chose iWay’s adapter framework to achieve low cost and rapid implementations without departing from their standards-based competencies.
Connie Winker interviewed Sonic’s CTO, Gordon Van Huizen, to discuss the ESB, standards such as Web services, and Sonic’s relationship with iWay Software.
Enjoy these iWay stories. We’ve enjoyed building the software that contributed to the successes you’ll read about.
