John Senor, President,
iWay Software

February 7, 2002 marked a milestone: the first anniversary of iWay Software. It turned out to be a very challenging year – uniquely so for New York City-based enterprises like iWay and our parent company, Information Builders – but we emerged strong and stable, with high expectations for 2002. We're working hard to keep delivering on iWay's value proposition, that of reduced time, cost and complexity in business integration, as announced at our launch.

iWay continues to ride the cutting edge of integration technology. Over 65 new integration products, tools and technologies have been added in the last year, expanding iWay's capabilities to integration over 200 of the most widely used packaged applications, transaction systems, databases and files. Additionally, exciting "next generation" integration standards such as Web Services and ebXML (e-Business XML) have been incorporated into the product line.

iWay Business Services, our implementation of Web Services, make it possible to expose virtually any application or data source as a Web Service, without writing custom code – so any application can be integrated with any other application, using Internet protocols. iWay Business Services make it possible to interconnect business processes within an enterprise, or between enterprises and trading partners, using nothing more than the Internet, iWay point-and-click integration tools and iWay Adapters. Support for ebXML, the emerging standard for B2B integration, makes it possible for trading partners to collaborate in a common language using iWay to seamlessly tie B2B systems with existing production systems, again without having to write or maintain custom code.

Our new Adapter Factory now provides over 200 new connectivity solutions for packaged applications like Vantive, SAP, Siebel Systems and i2 Technologies, as well as e-business formats like SWIFT, FIX, and HIPAA. We also support key integration technologies like Java Messaging Services and J2EE Application Servers like Oracle 9i Application Server and IBM WebSphere Application Server, as well as iWay's traditional data access technologies.

Thanks to all this great technology iWay is expanding to encompass vertically-oriented solutions, as Jake Freivald and Eric Greisdorf explain in our feature piece on the iWay Security Exchange. This major new initiative by iWay and IBM makes it easier for government agencies to securely share information without giving up control of internal processes. We have been installing the iWay Security Exchange since the beginning of March, with excellent results. The iWay Security Exchange leverages IBM WebSphere products, showcasing yet another aspect of iWay's growth: its commitment to strategic partners.

Also in this issue, Philippe Alles of IBM France describes how iWay and IBM together provide customers with strategic advantages for flexibility and scalability. Other strategic partners, such as XML Global Technologies, lend their capabilities to iWay products. Major vendors, most notably IBM and Microsoft, use iWay technologies to solve difficult integration problems. These partnerships thrive because of our shared integration vision, technical excellence from all parties and a commitment to finding the right solutions for our customers.

And our customers are responding. New clients and old friends alike continue to find iWay invaluable for solving integration problems. In the following pages, long-time EDA user Harris Electronics talks about why they rolled out a welcome mat for iWay ETL Manager and iWay Metadata Manager.

I invite you to hear more about iWay and our integration products, partners and capabilities at Summit 2002. Bring us your questions, problems and ideas – we'll help you find integration solutions or ways to implement unique new systems. And be sure to share your success stories, which are always of interest to us and our other customers.
