Customer Buzz

Summit 2007 generated tons of fantastic press coverage. The event, attended by more than 1,100 business intelligence (BI) and integration enthusiasts on May 20 – 24 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, provided the perfect forum for journalists to connect with IT developers, line-of-business professionals, and executives who are using technology to solve problems, improve processes, and generate positive results for their organizations.

Many Summit attendees took time out of their schedules to meet with the press and discuss how they are using Information Builders’ technologies to remove barriers with successful BI and integration applications. A few of these articles are highlighted below.

Sharing Their Stories

Ronald Phelps, a NASA executive and long-time supporter of Information Builders’ products, spoke with InterGovWorld about the space agency’s 10 years of success with WebFOCUS. IT Business Canada wrote about the flexibility of WebFOCUS, referencing applications from Manitoba Hydro, the Bank of Montreal Financial Group, and SwiftTrade. Sharief Zaman, director of IT at SwiftTrade, said they selected WebFOCUS over other solutions because Information Builders was “…willing to give us products specific to our needs at the time. Instead of the whole package, we got more of an incremental rollout.”

Computerworld printed an article that countered some common complaints about business intelligence with antidotes from Information Builders’ customers. Jim Lollar from Ford Motor Company spoke about their large-scale deployment to 10,000 dealerships; Steve Watson of the Maryland Department of Transportation discussed how easy it was to train new users; and Steve Simon from State Street Corp. talked about how rapidly his organization could disseminate information with WebFOCUS.

In the same article David Huffman from the Indiana Public Employees Retirement Fund shared his story. “I had to go against the whole state of Indiana when I switched off Cognos,” he said. But, now that WebFOCUS is up and running, state workers receive their first retirement check 30 days after retiring. With Cognos, they had to wait as long as 180 days.

Most customers spoke about their use of Information Builders’ technology, but John Sheridan, director of enterprise applications for Administaff, gave positive feedback about Summit. He told Search Data Management that, "I find this an extremely good investment of my time. I want to be able to have a sense of what's coming in the new releases, and of the new products – which ones might be applicable for us."
