Overcoming information silos is one of the chief reporting hurdles facing today’s organizations, and a challenge with which Russell Bednarz, vice president of enterprise information management for Southwest Business Services, is all too familiar. The organization, more commonly known as SWBC, provides numerous insurance, mortgage, and investment services to financial institutions, businesses and individuals throughout the country.

While this broad solution portfolio is a key component of SWBC’s success, it posed a problem when the company sought to have a holistic view of corporate data and operations. As Russell states in the video, each of SWBC’s 14 internal divisions have their own data systems and sources. Prior to working with Information Builders, the company lacked a way to unify this disparate data and efficiently report back to the enterprise.

In addition to enjoying the benefits our solutions delivered in integrating the company’s data sources, Russell was also pleased by the breadth of our offering. In his experience, other BI vendors charge for many of the features and functionalities that are included in our base product—including the ability to enable self-service reporting. This has been a particularly key component of SWBC’s enhanced reporting environment. Whereas employees were previously reliant upon IT for their reporting needs, even non-technical users are now empowered to run reports “in the middle of the night,” as Russell says, should they need to do so.

But hey, don’t take our word for it! Hear more about the benefits SWBC has experienced directly from Russell himself by clicking on the link above.
